Took some photos today as a guide

PLEASE NOTE: Choose an average day for setting this, in this heat of 28 Degrees I was finding the mags were so warm that the hammer could not beat the pressure in the mag so at times would get 80fps or nothing at all. This led me to experiment and find putting the mags in the fridge for 10 mins could result in a really high FPS becuase of setting the spring tension to deal with the higher gas pressure. As Graeme says you need to play around with it. Not something you can set and leave.

Great guide and all very interesting but herin lies the fundemental problem with gas rifles IMO, simply no consistency!!!

It's interesting that people usually say that on really hot days and the FPS is through the roof on these and yet here it seems too much heat has the reverse effect as the hammer cant even open the valve properly :?

All too much of a dark art for my liking, give me a nice consistent springer every time! Come rain or shine winter or summer, fps and shot-to-shot consistency remain a constant!

We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

I don't know Boshman, I have a certain gas rifle that is more consistent than any spring rifle out there, be it freezing or 100^f out. :P

Although I will admit, this rifle isn't exactly going to be found in the hands of just any airsofter, so for the most part, yea, springs are more consistent :P

Last time i chrono'd my setup it was +/- 10fps. May not be amazing by spring standards, but certainly not bad by gas standards. It is interesting though, as it gets warmer, your rifle will get hotter to a point where it will tail off again, as the spring tension cannot overcome the gas pressure in the mag, and as it cools, it'll get hotter in terms of fps again! same for any gas setup though.

when i burn off a mag through my tanaka on rapid fire, i can SEE the rounds going progresively slower on rounds 7 to 10 , for any kind of consitancy, i have to take 1 shot every 30 secs, or change mags after 5 rounds
